Well looky! Yahoo linked to my essay yesterday!

someecardsThanks to those of you who gave me a heads-up that Yahoo had included a link to “What the Guys I Date Don’t Know” in a story on Dating Advice. Did I ever think I would have anything to do with dishing out advice about dating? Negatory. Am I thrilled that I am? Yessirree!

read youe story…and everyone tell you so what nobody cares about your condition! I here that all the time, easy for those to say that don’t deal with it. I have tried for years to meet a nice lady and now about gave up…I have a slight limp …my rt leg, the heel cord drew up from spinalmentaljitis whan I was 3 along with my rt hand. There are very few things I can’t do and do more than most men ever think of, but noone want to date anyone long enough to learn that about a person, so they have to be perfect or lots of money! I know your going to say thats no true, buta friend also said that and we (togeather)made up a profile on a dating site both identical except on one the income was 35,000 to 50,000 the other 150.000 and over….the first had 2 intrest the second had more that the mailbox would hold! You are beautiful and great writer I would think your bigest problem would be finding someone worthy of you 🙂 I also tell myself there are many many more that are worse off than me, so I don’t complain…I raised 3 boys alone for 13 years there mom left them and never seen them again, so it not all bad just sometimes it would be nice to have someone around to do things with……Take care

While I do not share your same problem, I do have Lymphedema which developed 10 yrs ago as a result of a cancer surgery. I have a damaged lymphatic system leaving me with chronic left leg swelling (to probably twice the size of my right), which never goes away. Like you, I always keep the problem “under wraps”,..large leg pants etc, and no one ever suspects a thing. The rest of my body is perfectly normal, and was told by many men I’m attractive, that is until “the reveal”, as you put it. They would always act like it didn’t bother them, and then one day they’d simply drop out of site, or not return calls. I did finally meet a wonderful man who loves and cares about me for who I am as a person, and not the way my legs look. We’ve been living together for 2 years, and we are true soulmates. My life is the best it’s ever been. There is hope!

Hey Carla, how the hell are you? I hope that u are doing fine. I read your story and do not feel sorry for you. I do hate that the fact that u have not given some men the benefit of knowing the deal. I also hate how some men do not even try to know what its like to love a women like you who is so full of life and love. My advice to you is to live life to the fullest and don’t let the K-T prejudge who you think will like you and who will not. Win their hearts with your smile, courage and outstanding beauty.

    Chick, you’re cool.
Loved the story on Yahoo (good for them) and thus searched and found you here.
Your style is …. can’t really describe it, but it reeled me in. I don’t have any suggestions for your pseudo-anti-social-self-doubting-second-chances-are-for-hobos kinda outlook, and I guess it only happens on the rarest of occasions(?haha) (I know, I don’t know you, but what the hell, I can project a little) – nope no suggestions, but I do send you my full support, just ’cause dammit, we’re all a little weird and me personally, I like it better that way…..(makes us easier to find in a crowd).
So, kudos to you just tooling along and figuring it out.
You have a great day and thank you for the story.
I look forward to reading more of your stuff.
Smiles and good karma to you,
    Regina
