I think that walking with a permanent limp that people have mislabeled as a strut is awesome. And maybe when I grimace in pain or discomfort, people think I'm just being angry. Go K-T, go!

Labels are not important, but someone who looks a little different will get looked at, no doubt about it. Ignore every single stare unless they ask you politely what your condition is. Its not your problem to deal with their questioning minds unless they open their mouths and speak.
Well thats what I tell my kid.
People are going to start making fun of me I think because I keep saying this in emails at our kt group....I tell my kid all the time, "yes people will notice your birthmarks etc, just make sure your smile is the next thing they see."

Honestly there is nothing you can do for inquiring minds unless they ask you politely. Because the truth is, not EVERY look your way has to do with whats wrong with you or what they are noticing is wrong about you. Sometimes, they just think you look nice or interesting. Begin to assume thats why they are looking at you.
